Grey Matter Radio

About

Grey Matter Radio is a start-up Internet Radio Service with an emphasis on the community. Its our goal to highlight the local music and art scenes, as well as to provide a platform to discuss and debate the issues that affect us all. We also hope to shine a spotlight on the good things that are happening, as so many news stations focus predominantly on the negative. Finally, we would also like to keep our listeners and readers informed about events in their communities.

Grey Matter Radio was founded by Jon Jones in mid 2008. However, its true origin goes back to 2005. It was then that Jon Jones became friends with Jesse Higginbotham. The two became best friends and began collaborating on various projects. One of the most developed projects was “The Ghetto Show.” This was a faux news/ sketch comedy show that was recorded using hand held tape recorders with content from whatever interested them.

The first few episodes were just for fun, but soon Jesse and Jon began to consider the possibilities of making the show known to the world. The duo eventually decided to also test their hand at music. In 2007 Jesse acquired a beat pad, and both boys new laptops and they began experimenting with weird and interesting sounds. After some time they came up with 6 song concepts, however none of them would be completed. Tragically, Jesse was killed in an auto accident on April 19, 2007.

Grey Matter Radio’s existance is both a dream realised and the seeds of a future not yet manifested.
